NEWSPAPERS I am running out of newspapers/friday ads/ so if anyone is in the Pound Hill area of Crawley please pop them in a carrier bag and leave outside my front door, address is 24 Shetland Close, Pound Hill, RH10 7YZ.
BRIC A BRAC and CLEAN CLOTHES I also collect bric a brac and items to sell up at the Pease Pottage Boot sale on a sunday so if your having a spring clean again please do drop them round or otherwise I can pick up if you have loads!!!
What the money is spent on from the next couple of boot sales The money raised will be spent on getting 2 rabbits vet checked that have recently come in, both have medical issues (not urgent) but need to be seen. Predominately a guinea pig rescue but if another animal needs help I will try my best but sometimes I need help too!!
April 16th
If you have emailed me on jenny@crawleyguineapigrescue.org in the last week or replied to an email then unfortunately it hasn't reached me, its my fault, I was fiddling with technical stuff that I know nothing about and consequently I have stopped them coming through.
April 8th
There are lots of pairs of guinea pigs at the rescue at the moment, if you can offer a warm loving home to these please do get in touch using the contact page
Feb 25th
Tomorrow I will be driving 3 bunnies to Burford Blue Cross Rescue as they have some spaces, one bunny has lived a solitary life in a nursing home corridor and the other 2 are unwanted. Please please please think hard about getting a pet, they are not disposable, they are part of the family, they have needs and wants.
Feb 20th A call from one of my fellow animal rescuers in Bristol, 40 bunnies needing rescue spaces, bit of a challenge!
Feb 6th
A lovely piggie owner alerted me to a piggie who was being sold on gumtree and living in a carrier. I don't buy guinea pigs and the owner was wanting £50 for him, the carrier and his bits and bobs. I said I could offer a rescue space/find a rescue space but he wouldn't budge. Another lady said she would pay £10 for the hay, bottle, food and just to get him out of where he was. Owner had not intentionally neglected him, he bought him from a pet shop where he was living with another male piggie (so breaking a potential bond) and a rabbit. Rabbits and guinea pigs should NOT be living together. He is now at Blue Cross in Burford and will be neutered and found a wifey. Education for guinea pigs needs is very important, pet shops are not interested in this, to them they are stock and they see the £££££ signs, to me they are living creatures with emotions and needs.
Feb 4th, now I know I don't really take in bunnies but when I get a phone call from one of the local vets to say that 5 bunnies were being brought in to the surgery to be put to sleep could I help, I didn't have to think twice. I popped over to the vets to take the photos and get a good idea of condition. Thanks to some fab independent rescues all 5 buns have been offered non destruct rescue spaces. Many thanks to my rescue friends for offering, I was wondering where I was going to put 5 buns!!!! Tomorrow at midday their lives start again.
First adoption of February, Dick and Dom have gone to a lovely home after being in rescue for over a year. Good luck boys!
So this is January 2013. Have re-homed Kent and Sussex, two lovely youngsters and had one of the foster boys neutered with a home lined up.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me with the rescue in the past year.
Lord Charles RIP who was my inspiration to start the rescue
This is 'Lord Charles' who is the head of all the guinea piggies. Rescued from Brighton in June 2006 after being kept with a rabbit and had a huge mite infestation. He has made a full recovery and now runs the guinea pig palace. He is a full time resident.
